"How do the self made rich take the most out of society???"

You are a member of the richest society in the world- taxes are the dues you pay to belong to that society.

For example you may feel that because you worked hard and long hours you deserve what you have got.

The thing is I have traveled extensively in the third world and there it is the norm to work hard and long hours but you can never get ahead as the societies tend to suck. You have to work 16 hours a day 7 days a week just to eat and have a tin roof over your head. This is the norm for the majority of the world’s peoples. Most poor countries suck because there is no meaningful tax base.

Here if you work 16 hours a day 7 days a week you can become a millionaire. Taxes support our government and many of the things that make us great – good roads, a superior judicial system and our military for instance. To a certain extent taxes are the glue that holds our society together. Taxes are the dues you pay to belong to such a great society.

Its possible that you are too selfish to understand this line of reasoning however.
