The issue is more complex wrt to gay marriage however. Conservatives think that by blocking gay marriage, they reduce homosexuality in the nation, and conversely, allowing it will increase homosexuality.

Instead, blocking gay marriage, or any form of gay bashing, causes the small fraction of men who are homosexual, to 1) try being straight by marrying and having kids, and 2) sneaking around for illicit gay sex. Haggart is the posterboy for this approach. Conservatives need to ask themselves which is worse: 1) a ruined wife and family, and increased sexual promiscuity 2) or coming to terms with homosexuality and encouraging stability in gay relationships.

It is a no-brainer to me.
