>>Presidents Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush will formally announce on the deal when they meet in mid-November at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Hanoi.>>

The loss of Congress will haunt President Bush at APEC. Meanwhile, across Asia, the climbing fear is that a Democrat dominated Congress will swing towards increased US protectionism. Any increase in American protectionism will affect Asia's trade with the US. With the Asian nations earning less from their exports to the US market, they will stand with less money to lend to the US Treasury as well as the more general US credit markets, corporate or private.

Why should the Asians keep manufacturing and selling to the US only to re-lend what they have all earned back to the US?
