Its the middle that moved from Mr. Bush and the republicans in 2004 to the democrats in 2006. The independents...who may hold conservative values, but being more conservative would not have gotten them this time...............unless you are talking about traditional conservative practices like lower spending, balanced budgets, respect for privacy, non-interference in family matters,.......then you might be right. But those values were not evident in the republican congress of 2006.
