At its very core the rightwing is about screwing over average people and the poor and letting the rich and mega-corps do anything they want, including keeping down minorities, women and young people and trying to dominate and control them the way it was done in the 1950's. They basically want to erase everything that happened in the 60's and 70's. Reagan was a symbol of that, a charismatic man who made his bones demonizing liberals in Hollywood and hippies. If they were ever to tell the truth about what they really want, no one would vote for them. Which is why they have to rely on smear campaigns, wedge issues, cheating, lying and crfeating false myths and enemies. That is the reality of it in a nutshell.
