I thought I was pretty good at anticipating risks of all sort until the Canadian Conservatives made that move. Kind of comparable to Lenin ordering the lynching of the kulaks (prosperous, intelligent, hard-working Russian farmers) and giggling as he imagined them wriggling as they strangled.

Any politician who makes a move that punishes people for thrift, good behavior, and having a trusting nature will eventually destroy himself. Here you have a country that is starting the prosper mightily, with one of the strongest currencies in the world, a trade surplus, a budget surplus, and as much cultural and geographical diversity as any other country, and the government has to step in because it thinks it knows what's WRONG with all this.
