You LOSER. There are many people with different plans and some of them are even so stupid and disgusting as to remain Republicans. This is the time to get the plans together so as to make reasonable decisions instead of sitting around bicycling and napping and shoe shopping like the Bush administration. Redeploy (Murtha and the US Military's idea) as soon as is practical, around 6 weeks, to Kuwait and the Kurdish north. Stay in the region as necessary to see what transpires when Iraqis have their own country back. Add in 30,000 more troops (McCain's bad idea) to make another push at security primarily in Baghdad. Since no one will talk DRAFT and since there's another $160 BILLION being requested just for next year that will make Congress choke, redeployment looks pretty dang good now. In other words: DO SOMETHING. Either commit entirely and WIN or get the heck out and move onto something else. As I've said many times before, it's not an unreasonable idea to make a general DRAFT and get 200,000 troops over to Iraq and bring total security to the country. It would also take resignation by Bush/Cheney et al as the DRAFT and commitment would be their final act in office. The US would then WIN Iraq, take the consequences both political and financial and be there until the new government (no bases, no huge embassy, no oil profiteering), whatever and whoever it is, takes hold. This needs to be on the table and if it isn't politically palatable then we need TO LEAVE NOW and deal with the consequences for many years to come. Tough noogies, this is what the country gets for electing idiots to office. The government should also not be celebrating the holidays, not be vacationing, not be getting out of Washington until our troops are home. That's only fair. This half-assed we're at war routine is OLD. If we're at war then be AT WAR. Redeploy to Afghanistan to back up NATO since that situation is getting more chaotic all the time. Apparently, one option (unbelievable) is to make nice with the Taliban in order to keep order and get the heroin growing business back underground. Redo the inane Republican Medicare bill to put CAPITALISM BACK INTO the bill. Get rid of the doughnut hole and put in negotiations for drug prices. Get rid of the income cap on SS and stop stealing from it. This makes SS solid for 100 years or maybe forever. Get rid of the tax cuts from the top 1/2 of 1% because it looks like we could slip into recession. Put that back into the pockets of the working class so that it goes directly back into the economy as spending on necessities like FOOD and RENT. Get rid of the incentives to move companies and jobs offshore. Get rid of the corporate welfare for the likes of ExxonMobil. Go after gasoline (what is happening to prices right after the election) gougers. Go after Halliburton, Bechtel, Parsons, et al for war profiteering. Make war profiteering ILLEGAL retrospectively and get the tax money back from these nimrods. Put that money back into veterans benefits especially for healthcare. Investigate-Investigate-Investigate everything from illegal wiretapping, the state of investigations into actual terrorism, drug price profiteering, oil price profiteering, war profiteering, Katrina profiteering, etc. The damage Republicans have inflicted on the US is so widespread and runs so deep. Bring a shovel.
