Yes, but it is a new environment now. They may try to blame Nicholas.

Hi Gloop...You might consider both your son and yourself going to a martial arts school for awhile. My son is a divorced guy (good riddance of the former "lady" imo)...but she had instilled in him that "it's not nice to hit"....which is true, but soon, he became one of the bully's volleyballs... So my son signed them both up to (Japanese and I can't spell it) the school....(eventually could be black belts) ....Grandson learned lots, and can now protect himself. Off school grounds of course. But if he has to, could protect himself even on school grounds. He and his Dad are both very happy with the progress.

When I was in 2nd grade (eons ago) I lived across the street from a boy who wanted to be friends, but could only try to get my attention in an aggressive way...like push me down, or tear the sash off my dress, or grab my sleeve, and tear it. SO my Mom, took me aside, and said (in a threatening way): "IF you don't sock that Charlie the next time he tries anything, I'm GOING to spank YOU when you get home"......

Well, that got my attention. My folks always said "no hitting"...BUT this time they reversed that edict just for Charlie's benefit.

Charlie tried it, and I wound up like I'd seen pictures of pitchers do, and just socked him on the chin. Down he went...PLOP. He cried all the way home, and he never did that again to me. We became friends eventually.
