ask because i'm wondering if it might not be prudent to take some lt cap gains in 06 rather than 07, if risk of significantly higher taxes is high.

bush will veto any tax increases

fwiw - article in Barrons [this wk-end] about that ....

note:the guy who wrote it predicted that the dem's
would NOT win much in this past election - and he
missed by a mile ....

Rangel will try to (will head house ways and means)

(1) cut Alt Min Tax because it hurts NY State residents
(2) jack up taxes on Cap gains and Dividends to cover (1)
(3) NO general increases in taxes because it won't
fly ....

However, it is debatable he can do it because of the
conservative nature of the dem's win ...

i.e. their aggregate win total for those repub's removed
by dem's was 77,000 votes according to the article ...

again, all the above per the author who wrote it in
Barrons ....
