I understand your frustration, but what would that imply we'd need to do? Force companies to remain public even if they refuse to go through the time and expense of compliance with SarbOx and making SEC filings? Isn't that basically the opposite of what we want to see in the markets?

Basically what you're seeing in the SVNXes of the world is a remnant of the dot-com balloon when company whose name was a website was considered IPO material. Thankfully we've retreated from those excesses but some rules to prevent a recurrence of that might well be in order.
