If our politicians actually believe we can somehow achieve some kind of success by negotiating with Iran and the Syrians then I got to believe they are smoking an illegal substance.
There are only TWO ways to go in Iraq. Continue training Iraqi forces until they are large enough and competent enough to handle their own or give up and pull out and live with the consequences. The only thing we can talk about is how we deploy our troops IN IRAQ during this period.
I am thinking we should pull back to secure locations and maybe try to secure Iraq's borders against intrusion by foreign fighters and restrict our activities to special forces type things, and resuppling Iraqi's. I think its our supply lines that are causing the greatest casualties to ourselves.
Sadly, I see a situation developing where we prop up the Iraqi's JUST ENOUGH to allow us to declare victory and get the hell out. Beginning to look like the old vietnamese two step, I am becoming very discouraged. Americans must either learn to accept adversity and grit our teeth and fight on or never again get involved in foreign affairs and rely on our nuclear umbrella for our own safety. jdn

What has happened to the WaPo...? In many ways, it has become more biased and filled with propaganda than even the NYT, and that's a pretty difficult challenge.

The Post fronts a look at how the $38 billion reconstruction effort in Iraq has fallen short:

-->>No place that I could see in the article is there any guidance as to how the WaPo developed the number "38 billion"...

-->>It did not say any of the good things that have been accomplished.

-->>It did not say what areas outside Baghdad have been helped with basic services like water and power...

And no place in the NYT nor the WaPo do either papers say WHAT they think should be done to capture the murdering barbarians who are funding the families of the suicide bombers, or that the Iraqi's should be doing to try to capture the promoters of such actions themselves.

Perhaps both papers think these people should run free....Maybe we should send Leahy and group over there to "fix things."

No, it's just GWB's fault.

What would the WaPo say if the Presidential candidates for President were Condi Rice and Barack Obama?????

Would they continue to have articles about "racist" possibilities....or would they continue to have articles about "the sex of the candidate"....

Would the WaPo EVER talk about skill, education, background and experience needed and acquired for the job, etc?

Or would they continue to be as shallow as they are now?
