Excellent points, Don, and I do worry about the Democrats overplaying whatever hand they think they have.

George Will made an interesting point this morning on how much worse the election results could have been for the republicans, in that gerrymandering had protected some seats (as it was designed to do), but in others there are ten seats where republicans are leading or won...but with less than 50% of the vote....sometimes the left vote was split with a green party candidate or such.

Joe Biden said on the Sunday Morning talkfests that he will not oppose Gates for Secretary of Defense. Good. Gates needs to be confirmed quickly and with minimum hassle over any past transgressions some may have feel he committed in prior public service. He is a part of the potential Iraq solution we are all looking for.
