Rigged elections like in Ohio 2004 and Florida 2000 did not happen, probably for several reasons:

- The public was very vigilant and expecting fraud
- Voting machine companies feared risk of bankrupcy if caught cooperating with Rove in any cheating
- Ohio was a blow-out for democrats so Blackwell couldn't even cheat to win his own election

There were however some cases of fraud by the GOP: in Orange County with the phony threat letters to immigrants, in Virginia with the phony misdirection letters, in Florida where Katherine Harris's old seat was narrowly won by a Repub but 20,000 votes were missing and in San Diego.

It is a big relief that the source code of the voting machines has apparently not been compromised, but it COULD have been if the press and public had not been made aware of the possibility. Rove's advantage in 2000 and 2004 was that no one was watching and he controlled the regulators and counting process.

I must say though, congrats to the rightwing for not trying to cheat on a massive scale this time. doesn't mean they didn't do it in 2004 and 2000 though. Those were separate cases. At the very least we know that illegal vot65e scrubbing in Florida cost Gore the election, and that at least 50,000 votes were stolen from Kerry in various ways in Ohio. Kerry needed 55,000 to win, so that electi8on was really a toss-up. Also, Bush waged a terribly dishonest campaign, and totally lied saying he had nothing to do with the smearvets campaign. Those guys were Rove-Delay cronies and were also busy in 2006 smearing Dems, though it didn't work this time.

Finally, attacking Kerry for the botched joke was really dishonest, and desperate. Thank God it backfired.
