<FYI ... If there is a particularly long cold snap or extended winter >

One wouldn't expect the same level of awareness (emotional range, etc) in a bee as a human would one? BTW, there are plenty of cases of starving humans doing the same... and if you go back a couple thousand years or even to more primitive societies....

Hence of course it makes sense that there is all sorts of emotional, intellectual, and all other forms of human reactions attached to sex. Sex is one of the strongest drives in humans... the naturalness of that drive has been completely denied and repressed by almost any means necessary by our not so distant societal parents.

In fact activity you bring up in nature (Bees) as something that would be 'dreadful' in humans is a denial of science... a denial of your own DNA. The DNA we share with animals that do "unspeakable" things could easily be used to explain all the stuff that news organizations whip into emotional long running stories or horror. The condemnation of all that is simply ignorance of our roots... interestingly that's exactly what the nutty creationists do... just a different target.
