Was it smart of Rush to publicly mock and ridicule a well-liked public person like Michael J Fox? Did Rush's smart move help or hurt the GOP in this last election?

There are a lot of so-called 'smart' people who lack a bit of common sense. Rush is definitely one of those, imo. He's smart enough to rake in money from a gullible subset of people by espousing opinionated crap designed to make them feel good about themselves by denigrating others. He's smart enough to stay out of jail in spite of committing 'doctor shopping' and controlled substance abuse, all the while publicly attacking those who advocate a more understanding view of addiction.

But, is he smart enough to come up with real answers to complex issues? No, instead, he appeals to the emotional side of the debate by proposing ridiculous solutions while mischaracterizing the position of his opponents.

If by 'smart', you mean unscrupulous, manipulating, cynical, and predatory, then I guess he's smart.
