It seems to me that the sort of effort devoted to that idea must have been associated with something larger and more compelling than a group of kids disconnected from popular dogma. It seems to me that their premise (that the taking of thousands of innocent lives was laudable and worthy of their own death) must have a supernatural component based on some (thought to be commendable) goal?

Certainly, it happened..and it seems to be connected with thousands of such efforts on smaller levels of interaction such as blowing people up in restaurants and that sort of thing. One suspects that there is some overweening dogma or movement involved to create such synchronicity, and extremism, and lack of compassion, and want of common humanity. It would seem that neither of us is capable of pinpointing the danger at this time. You gave 7 possible answers to it (which don't seem worthy), and I didn't give any.
