I don't understand why it isn't obvious to people why junior didn't fire rummy till after the election. The reason is he would not have fired him if the repugs had won. If the repugs had held both houses he would have continued to thumb his nose at the democrats just as he has done for the past 6 years. Rummy would have kept his job and junior would have continued to lie about what a great job he was doing. Then they would have tried to hold on in Iraq for two more years and declare that victory was only a matter of a very short time away right before junior left office. The democrat win forced him to either fire rummy now or get into a prolonged battle with congress over him. The battle would have cost him more of his quickly dwindling popularity points and he would have lost in the end anyway.

The plan now is try to put the blame on the democrats for everything which goes wrong from here on out.
