"I don't think he ever wanted to be President. He was pushed into it by his father."

I don't think Poppy had a lot ot do with it. Jr has had political ambitions for a long time, since he first ran for congress and lost. When he hooked up with Karl Rove, who was looking for a horse to ride to the Presidency, I think that's when he first thought that, just maybe, he could be President.

Some people should never be given power. Jr is a perfect example of one. It brings out the very worst in them.

I'm sure one of the reasons Jr. wanted to be President was to show up Poppy, a lifelong project of his. Iraq has a lot to do with that as well.

This is all well documented in Molly Ivins book "Shrub", which was written when Bush was running for governor of Texas.
