Without Rahm Emanual the Dems would NOT have re-taken control of the Congress. He also was a key member of the team that got Clinton elected (twice). This is not the time to attack the emerging leaders in the Democratic Party.

You're wrong about this Bush-lite BS. I have been hearing too much about that. Gore actually has conservative roots. He is strong on national defense. He had to be to win in Tennessee. His wife Tipper was the big advocate of censorship in the media, just like Joe Lieberman. The Clintons both have moderate roots. Hillary was a Goldwater girl growing up. Pelosi is not even considered that liberal in San Francisco.

The fact is that if Democrats and Independents want to keep the rightwing at bay, they have to lead from the center, or slightly left of center. If they go all the way over to the left they will start losing again. And they also need to make friends and recurit disgruntled GOP moderates like Lincoln Chaffee. Together we can form a block which represents about two-thirds of the country. But if we separate and start calling each other "Bush-lite" then we'll eventually lose again.
