So, you're saying that Bolton needs to be confirmed to save the 2nd amendment?

Who was that guy in Fantastic Four who could stretch himself so far? I think you've beaten him.

The 2nd Amendment does not say people should be allowed to amass military arms. And we already have militias, they're called the National Guard, in every state. Furthermore, in 1776 American was a totally rural wild place where every household needed a rifle or two for hunting and self-defense. In 2006, only certain households have any need for that, and especially in the cities, we don't need ANY military arms in the hands of citizens.

Common sense gun control is just fine. That means non-military weapons only, trigger-locks, gun safety certification, registration and no guns in the hands of the mentally unstable, including those who might be political extremists who hate the government.

Remember, the NRA is basically the gun manufacturers lobby. This isn't so much about ideology to them it's about making more money by selling more and more weapons, especially the expensive type.

That said, democrats are not for major gun control, just the bare minimum of common sense regulation.
