with the economy being retail driven, maybe the market stays frothy till the holidays pass.. you know, cheap gas, rising markets, illusion of "wealth" and off to the store we go to send money to China. Paying the piper will be due in '07

CanRoy pain approaching severe..sheesh

It's still not too late to hedge with some puts or to take some money off the table (my strategy is to sell covered calls/buy puts rather than sell stock outright).

I'm smart, but I ain't that smart. Whenever just about everything in my portfolio ramps up a bit too quickly and steeply, I attribute it to a lucky liquidity rush.

Also, I think there is a lot of merit to the concerns about the dollar. Can't hurt to go long a little GLD, even though it is up big.

As Goldmember would say,

I love GOOOOOOOOOOLD!

Still in the early innings of the dollar swan dive.

Convenient way to play is to buy GLD (a gold ETF).
Trading at about 64 now. When you consider what gold did in
the last big runup during the dying days of disco...and then you adjust for inflation...and then you think about what will happen when the U.S. economic chickens come home to roost, it becomes clear we are headed to ther triple digits on this one. In fact, 200 a share may be a conservative estimate.

Did someone say GLD?

I'm still adding. What amazes me is that there are still pundits out there who opine that we will skirt a recession. News: we're already IN one...the only question is when did it start exactly.
