"Kurdistan is largely partinioned already. "

Pretty much. The problem is that Turkey and Iran have been making noises about Kurdistan as a threat. At one point, Turkey had 250,000 troops on the border, complaining about the treatment of the Turkmen in Kurdistan and cross-border terrorism. True or not, historically speaking, an invader says stuff like that tot justify an invasion. Kurdistan is in a very precarious position. Not only is Turkey making noises, but Iran and Syria since both of those countries also have significant Kurdish minorities.

"I hear some pragmatism coming from the Hamilton/Baker group...heresy like "talk to your enemies"...what a concept. "

A relief to hear. That is one reason why I think Cheney isn't long for his office. Neocons don't do pragmatism. It is a sign of being weak.
