"if Jimmy Carter had not sold out our friend and ally, the Shah of Iran, IslamoFascist terrorism would not be nearly the problem it is now, and the attack on 9/11/2001 might never have happened, and Iran could have been a modern, peaceful friend and ally of the civilized world." Most people do not realize that Carter sold out the Shah. The fact that he canceled the program that paid the mullahs to stay away was the proximate cause of their return. One can argue that it was a stupid program, but that Carter ordered the abrupt end and caused the Hostage Crisis is not in dispute.
