That sure doesn't pop up on my order window (Canadian broker), but when I briefly had a Brown account in the US, it was an option way back in 2000.

Now we have Level II and cheaper commissions, not having the Brown account doesn't make me grit my teeth quite so much. Actually, I never had Level II with Brown, either. It had a very minimal interface.

But boy, did it trade Nasdog stocks in a hurry. And cheap, too. Incidentally, if you ever want to have some fun with regulators, open up an account in a different country. They get real tetchy.

Only other time I had real time Level II was right here on SI. For a while (1999?), we had real time streaming quotes on Nasdaq stocks and Level II. That was cool.
