Beaufield Resources-2006 Exploration Summary
Tuesday January 9, 8:30 am ET

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 9, 2007) - Beaufield Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BFD - News) is pleased to announce the results from its Fall 2006 exploration program, representing ongoing exploration at its Opinaca project in the James Bay region of Quebec. The work consisted of drill testing the previously discovered Vortex zone (formerly Rusty zone) and exploration for new gold targets on the larger Opinaca property.

Progress continues to be made on several fronts: Further defining and confirming the presence of anomalous gold values and other indicators at the Vortex zone; The discovery of the Kessel and Ylesia zones, both containing high levels of molybdenum, gold and copper; Expanding the gold zone at the Channel zone; And finally, identifying at least two significant geophysical targets within the Roberto corridor.

Vortex Zone

Three holes were drilled to test the Vortex target. Each hole encountered a 12 to 20 metre wide zone mineralized in anomalous gold, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite with intense silica alteration. The holes were continued at depth to get through a diorite intrusion in order to intersect anticipated mineralization at its northern contact but the lack of drill rods prevented this from occurring.

Results from the 3 hole drill campaign are as follows:

The holes continue to indicate significantly anomalous gold in favourable geology, namely a sediment-hosted system similar to what exists at the neighboring Roberto zone owned by Goldcorp Inc. Beaufield is now considering Induced Polarization (IP) geophysical surveying in an effort to establish the location of higher sulphide concentrations in preparation for additional drilling at the Vortex Zone. The northern contact of the diorite will also be investigated.

Kessel and Ylesia Zones

These two zones represent significant new discoveries of combined molybdenum, copper and gold. The Kessel Zone has been traced over a distance of 350 metres with 43 rock sample assays averaging 0.5 g/t gold, 5.7 g/t silver, 0.2% copper and 1.1% molybdenum. (Beaufield News Release dated November 14, 2006). At current metal prices, 1% molybdenum is roughly equivalent in value to 34 g/t gold. Selected grades include greater than 10% molybdenum (reassay in progress), 6.51 g/t gold, 33.6 g/t silver and 1.36% copper. Exploration on the Kessel and Ylesia zones will be a top priority in 2007.

Channel Zone

The Channel Zone was originally discovered during 2005 and continues to take shape as exploration progresses. Fall 2006 sampling has extended the Channel Zone over a distance of 70 metres and has yielded many new high grade gold samples. New grab samples collected in the Fall program include gold values of 13.4 g/t, 12.1 g/t, 8.9 g/t and 6.8 g/t. A channel sample returned 1.8 g/t over 2.11 metres. Geophysics to identify sulphide concentrations will be undertaken.

Other Zones

Based on magnetic surveying of the Roberto corridor at least two new areas of anomalous structure have been located. These are in water covered areas and require more geophysics.

Property Potential

The Opinaca property covers approximately 9,684 hectares. Current geological exploration has only covered approximately 20% of the property. Neighbouring and adjoining properties by Goldcorp, Virginia, Golden Valley, Eastmain Resources and Azimut are being actively explored. In all cases, the favourable structures traverse the 17 kilometre-long Beaufield property. Potential mine development by Goldcorp will substantially improve the accessibility and infrastructure of the area.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Core processing included descriptive logging and systematic sampling for analysis. The drill core was completely split in half, with one half delivered to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference, gold assays were performed at ALS CHEMEX Laboratories in Val d'Or, Quebec. The processed samples were submitted to a standard Fire Assay with AA Technique (Au-AA-23) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectroscopy (ME-ICP-41) on a 30 gram sub-sample.

Other Activities by Beaufield

Work on the following properties is either underway or in the
planning stages:

- Troilus base metals and gold (Chibougamau);
- Mainstreet base metals (Val d'Or);
- Hemlo gold (Ontario);
- Rouleau Urban Township, Quebec gold (adjoins Noront and Murgor);
- Lac Evans zinc (James Bay, Quebec); and
- Raglan nickel (adjoins Xstrata nickel).

Updates on these properties will follow on a regular basis.

With approximately $8.5 million in working capital, no debt and a promising portfolio of gold and base metal properties, Beaufield enters 2007 in the strongest position it has ever been in its history.
