I would be against a ban if the smokers who fall ill due to smoking voluntarily get off the medical system such as Medicare and Medi-Cal which is supported by taxpayers' monies.

I have lost three friends to lung cancer... I have a friend who has Emphysema and is suffering terrible. When in Boone NC the hospital runs the Wellness Ctr. where we exercise.. The track that surrounds the area where we do stretching has people walking with oxygen tanks... all ex. smokers

I would never ban cigarette smoking as I still have a great may friends who do it. I watch them and think that they have a death wish.. And the lung cancer is not an easy death....

Smoked once...but gave it up cold turkey years ago. Terrible habit but apparently one very difficult to break.
