The long range fiscal problems are far...FAR beyond the scope of any obtainable future revenue. Where do you think that many trillions of dollars are possibly going to come from? Where's the golden goose?

The "soul" of Republican belief (or at least what it gave lip service too in the past) is that big government programs like this don't work. These kinds of programs, though well intended, fail because politics corrupt them...Every time.
Social Security was initially created with a reasonable premise. Now the surplus money is stolen and spent today. It alone takes about 13% of your salary. You and I will probably never see a penny of it.

Do you have a clue as to the definition of "freedom?"

Once FDR opened Pandora's Box and allowed the government to confiscate the property of one person and give it to another, it has pitted American against American ever since. It will eventually resolve itself(in a very bad way) when the corrupt system fails.
