Good thread.

I know a couple people who smoke weed to help deal with their cancer. They swear by it as having made a real difference to their lives.

Of course, as a result they're now felons in the Eyes Of The Law. It seems you can't have folks smoking a plant in the privacy of their house, no sir! That is against the law! At any moment armed agents might kick down their door and roll them to prison in their wheelchairs.

Ashcroft thought arresting potheads so important that he took FBI agents off of counter-terrorism and assigned them to pot police instead (pre-9/11 of course).

BUT, our government says it perfectly acceptable to CREATE cancer by buying tobacco, or to get smashed on alchohol. or to buy one of the endless prescription drugs that modify our minds, ranging from Ritalin to anti-depressants to god-knows-what-else. In fact, our government even SUBSIDIZES some of these items, particularly tobacco.

But not pot. Evil, verbotten, forbidden. Anyone care to explain why?
