Rove would have been an easy firing. He is only a political adviser. I think the primary reason Rummy is gone is because Bush wanted to preempt the possibility that the Dems would force him out.

I think the odds are better than even that Bush is doing the bi-partisan positioning as a photo op. I think his re-submittal of Bolton indicates that he has no long term intent of being bi-partisan.
