That was a brutal PR error- whoever was at fault (mission accomplished).

I think the GOP has already dumped Bush. How many candidates in this last election were running as hard as they could, AWAY from Bush? That's a dumping, imo. The problem, as I see it, is that the electorate isn't going to forgive the republicans for Bush, any more than they are going to forget who the main bad actor responsible for Iraq was. The republicans are well and truly screwed- but since they screwed up, I can't say I'm sorry for them. When you f*ck up big, you have to pay the price.
