Taylor Devices adding Kenmore facility
Wednesday December 6, 11:39 am ET

With volume exceeding capacity at its North Tonawanda base, Taylor Devices Inc. is expanding with a packaging and shipping operation in Kenmore.

Douglas Taylor, president of the company, said the new facility will be located at the former McCauley Metal Products building on Woodward Avenue near Military Road, about four miles from Taylor Devices (NASDAQ: TAYD - News) headquarters. Initially, the manufacturer of shock absorption products expects to utilize 10,000 square feet and add five jobs.

"The most cost-effective solution was to move final packaging, boxing, and shipping of our large earthquake shock absorbers to a dedicated site, thus freeing up production space at our Tonawanda Island plant in North Tonawanda," said Taylor. "Some of these products are very large, up to 30 feet in length and weighing up to 10 tons each. This requires a high bay building with overhead cranes and an indoor loading dock. All of these are available at the 275 Woodward Avenue site."

Also, Taylor said the company is considering adding in 2007 another building at its North Tonawanda site for assembly and testing operations.
