Democracy was NEVER an Iraqi idea - it was always OUR idea. Why should they want it? They don't even know what it is.

The same could be said about freedom and slaves, or about women and voting 100 years ago. It makes more sense that the average Iraqi wants democracy than dictatorship. But that's just logic speaking. I think a problem with democract is the collective group wants it, but no individual wants to sacrifice for it since the benefits are shared equally amongst the group instead of among the individual making the sacrifice. That may be why the Iraqi police don't want to risk their lives - their peers who are not risking their lives share equally in the potential success.
