"All drug research is based on underlying work done in the public sector."

This is a false statement. A very small portion of medical therapy research is done based on work done by governments.

There was a relevant story on the front page of an inner section in today's dead tree version of the Wall Street Journal. It said that drug makers were investigating Chinese homeopathic therapies. As I stated previously in this thread, most drugs are initially developed based on discoveries of naturally occurring substances.

"I don't see how you can morph this issue into an issue on abortion. "

Follow the money. The biggest backers of dead baby stem cells appear to be the pro abortion crowd.
