I am going to agree that the moves to exit Iraq come are

"....surrender from a position of weakness and despair"

I don't think the moves are unpatriotic.

Compared to Viet Nam, where the US had a responsibility to the people of South Viet Nam, and the Republic of VietNam army. The US was there for a very long time - with major forces from 1962 to 1973.

In Iraq, there is effectively no one on our side, except for Kurdistan. Kurdistan is in good shape, and I expect the US will be continuing assistance for a long time.

I don't think the US present is doing the US much good, or the Iraqis.

When you are in a hole, stop digging.
