I think it's that the oil companies have been foregoing profits to keep gas prices low hoping it would help their good friends, the Bush admin., in the mid-terms. The mid-terms are OVER.

Whatever happens in Iraq, if we go or if we stay, the result is likely to be MORE ME instability. Instability that's added $15-20 to the cost of each barrel of oil for the last four years..

Developments in Iran could further add to the instability.
