"This man is the symbol of everything that is wrong with the leftist movement."

Me too! I'm against global warming, but I've invested in oil companies several times, and no doubt will again, perhaps immediately. SOMEONE is going to reap those inevitable profits, it might as well be me ( and my funder, George S.! ).

Then, I can donate some of those profits to politicians against global warming..

It's called being reality based. Ideology is no basis to be an investor, although I suppose you could feel "noble" about your losses.

I can understand Soro's oil play, but the AMD play? What does he know?

The man is full of contradictions. He funds the push for McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform, then uses the 527 loophole to give millions of dollars to MoveOn.org.

Yeah...those leftists just don't turn the other cheek (no pun intended) like the good followers of Jesus. They should fund noble causes, then suffer their imperfections by bending over and grinning to the swift boater's reamings. Ingrates that they are.

Now he claims to be against global warming, but is investing heavily in oil companies whose very product contributes to global warming.

Yeah...more profits to oppose those noble right wing causes...what a nasty character.

Al

What makes you think Soros is a leftist? THis is a guy who's invested in Carlyle Group with all the top Bushies. He even bought GW's stake in Harken Energy, only to find out later that GW had ripped him off and stuck him with a lemon. It was called insider trading, but of course GW got away with it. So Soros lost 800 K. No wonder he opposes GW.

Not all those who oppose Bush are leftists. Or even political. The way I heard it is that Soros opposes the borrow and spend economy, and the neocon imperialism which reminds him of the old Soviet Union or Nazis. Whatever Soros's real thinking on this, he is anything but a leftist. He is a super capitalist, a ruthless one, though I think he does care about real democracy, real freedom and the good of the American people.

Bushies need to stop calling everyone who opposes them "leftists" or "far left". Indeed, many of Bush's more vocal opponents are honest conservatives, libertarians, traditional conservatives, pragmatic moderates and progressive centrists.
The leftist and liberal tag has been used to death and is often accurate. Also, there's nothing wrong with being liberal or even leftist. Some leftists are very good, thoughtful people, and they have been proven right on many issues.
