Yes, I suppose it WAS designed by committee (a very big committee at that).

I would love to have been there when the leader addressed the auditorium, eh office space, (as I imagine) asking how they can make it like the iPod and then when they started discussing the wheel design... "we'll make it look like the iPod wheel!" "but its patented" "no no, it'l have click switches underneath!" "Brilliant, Bob! Lets do it!"

What a contrast, and I don't think it was even tens of millions at first...
