What you hear is what you want to hear. Yes, the leader of Iran is a wacko - I think the majority of his own people even think so. But, most Iranians have a favorable view of America, and want to have closer ties. You hear the few clerics who call for Christian blood, but not the majority (and more influential) ones who call for calm and denounce terrorism. The exodus of Iraqis is more due to the sectarian violence caused by extremists who have very little regard for Islam. Much like the bloody Catholic/Protestant purges of the past, these so-called 'religious' fanatics are using religion for their own earthly power play.
