Almost all prepared foods have corn starch, modified food starch, or corn protein. Even things like Yogurt (only certain well known brands, of course) have corn.

I cook almost everything from scratch. Every brownie mix on the shelves of our supermarket, and every cake mix, has corn starch, for example (unless you are lucky and Dr. Oetker's mixes are in your supermarket- I have to shop at Whole Foods to find them).
