I think that today we are past the point of deciding if pot has legitimate medical uses.

It does .. period.

The next issue is how does the federal government turn about without losing face? The US government has invested a lot into the anti-pot fight.

Once that issue has been resolved then we move to the next:

Where and how do these medical users get their supplies?

If you have a medical condition that a doctor would write a prescription for, I see no reason you shouldn't be allowed to use it for medical purposes. I'd support changing the law to allow that.
