That article is about government research in general. I didn't see any percentage or amount given for government drug research.

In some areas the federal government funds research. Federal funding is subject to inefficiencies and abuse. If you want an example of federal funding abuse you need look no further than the Global Warming debate.

Our Founding Fathers granted the feds the power to provide fro infrastructure, foreign policy, unified defense and provide for a common currency. These are examples of things worth allowing federal inefficiencies to creep into.

If you recall President Bush made the magnanimous ruling that previously killed babies stem cell lines could be exploited while receiving federal grants. What I find fascinating is how often the left goes to the tried and true Authoritarian Liberalism bag, but if the values to be respected are not worthy ITHO, PC doesn't count.

There are a great number of people in this country who are offended by having babies killed to harvest their stem cells. I have the right to trade my life for a chance for another person's survival. I do not believe you or I have the right make the same decision on behalf of another person.
