Murtha is the main reason why opposition to the Iraq war became mainstream in American politics. Anyone who opposses the Iraq War owes him a debt of gratitude for telling it like it is, even if it was uncomfortable. Murtha changed the war debate, and his efforts might result in an earlier than expected withdrawl. Remember the Pentagon just a few weeks ago said they expect us to be there through 2010.
