Bart the bottom line is significant loss of purchasing power over time and benefiting from it rather than being on the other side.


Indeed and that is really the base issue, although it does pay to watch the trends for shorter term reversals - disinflation.

That's really what its all about in my book - inflation is unquestionably the very long term trend, but the fiddling of central bankers and other relative lowlifes sure can make a mess out of a portfolio, especially when one trades futures like I do.
