Anyway, I digress. If we really wanted to, we can lock ourselves in direct mortal combat with AMD and get rid of them once and for all. That's not that hard. But for what? I don't think we should do that, even if the FTC was fine with it. Instead, I think we should venture out further and go beyond traditional PCs. New platforms like Viiv and vPro are just baby steps. I'm hoping for more. See.........I think there WAS once a time when INTC was able to eliminate AMD. However, I think that time has passed.......if for no other reason than customers like having the option of two competitive chip vendors. You say INTC has survived tough times......my question to you is when? Not in the 8 years I've known the company.
