He might be able to do something with a Fluke or other branded test instrument that communicates through USB to a laptop. Haven't looked into it though.

My area of experience is mostly with 4 to 20 mA loop circuits, DCS and PLC control systems.

The function of the box would be to capture the waveforms - the USB connection is just to let you see whats going on and transfer data as necessary. Unless someone needs continuous capture as opposed to montioring the signal the USB port doesn't need to go close to GHz - only faster enough to update the display. Heck update of a monitor at best is no more than 120 Hz and LCDs are 60 Hz. Also if capture of the signal is the goal, the box could buffer it to some extent and then the limiting step is how much capture is needed.

I need monitoring - capture would be nice but no more than a few seconds. Just need to troubleshoot circuits (mostly analog signals - shape etc extremely important) and I hate lugging old bertha around.

I agree it would be interesting to try Parallel, but would be nicer to get a native program.
