AARP survey... 73% AGAINST legalizing pot.

DISAGREE - 73%

YES - 74%

And of course, while a majority of respondents agreed that adults should be allowed to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if a physician recommends it, no distinction was given whether these people were referring to marinol, the marijuana pill, or smoked pot.

Personally, I'm still waiting for the NIH study, peered reviewed, which proves any medicinal effect of smoked pot over marinol.

I just read Bill's post and the link. It had some interesting facts which support my previously expressed opinions.

72% support medical marijuana legalization

but only

23% support total legalization.

That illustrates why those pushing medical marijuana should decouple the issue from the total legalization issue. If the two issues were successfully decoupled, medical marijuana would likely be legal nationwide as the support for it is strong.
