I think both of those guys, Giuliani and McCain, could only win a general election by getting a lot of Dem votes. If Hillary gets the nomination, a lot of Dem votes, especially Dem male votes, may be up for grabs.

McCain will have the Iraq war and his desire to feed it more troops hanging around his neck like an albatross. NOBODY but him wants to do that. Besides, many Dems see him as a grovelling Bush tool, and the hard right of his party doesn't like him either. He's not going anywhere.

Giuliani might easily win a general election against Hillary with a LOT of Dem votes from males and females. He's gay friendly, STRONGLY pro-choice (on record as supporting even partial-birth abortions) and pro gun control. The same policies that would likely win him a bunch of Dems are what will keep him from winning Republican primaries. He won't survive his own Republicans..

Somebody is bound to rise up on the (R) side with lower negatives.
