The Swift Boat attacker John O'Neill's republican backed ($30 million worth) was a bunch of lies. O'Neill claims 60 vets who served w/Kerry at the time came out against him - LIE. ONE only - Stephen Gardner - and Gardner has since admitted that HE LIED about being with Kerry at the time Kerry received his purple heart: On Crossfire, O'Neill claimed that there "are more than 60 people that served with John Kerry that contributed to this book." NOT TRUE
In fact, only one man who served on John Kerry's boat, Stephen Gardner, is involved with Swift Boat Vets or Unfit for Command. While the group's members are veterans of the Vietnam War and may have served at the same time as Kerry or even on boats near Kerry's, only one man who served on John Kerry's boat, Stephen Gardner, is involved with Swift Boat Vets or Unfit for Command. And Gardner was not present for the events that led to any of Kerry's medals or any of Kerry's three Purple Hearts.

FACT
A grand total of 1 member of SBV actually served WITH Kerry on his boat - Steve Gardner. Gardner himself, after repeatedly lying, finally conceded that he had not actually served with Kerry at the time Kerry won his Purple Hearts, Bronze Star and Silver Star. The rest of the SBV members served at or before/after the time Kerry served and in other boats or duties.

GZ! What are you talking about - did not release the info to the public?! - the Boston Globe publicly published it. Kerry - along with many brave souls actually served in combat in Viet Nam. He enlisted rather than dodge the draft or have his daddy pull strings to get stateside assignment.

Furthermore - re ONeill: O'Neill lied about Jerome Corsi's role in Unfit for Command
O'Neill claimed on MSNBC's Scarborough Country that Jerome Corsi was "simply an editor and not really any sort of co-author."
But Corsi is listed on the book jacket as an author. His photo and profile appear in the book. A dedication from Corsi appears in the book, and the book's acknowledgments section is written in the plural form, making clear that the book was very much a joint O'Neill-Corsi effort. The book's preface notes that Corsi and O'Neill's friendship dates back 30 years and says, "After reconnecting, they decided to work together to write this book." Promotional materials for the book note that "John O'Neill and his coauthor Dr. Jerome Corsi (an expert on the anti-Vietnam War movement) have interviewed dozens of veterans who served with Kerry and have meticulously documented a shameful record of betrayal and deception on the part of John Kerry."
Perhaps O'Neill was simply embarrassed that his co-author and friend of 30 years is a raving bigot who has written that "ragheads" are "boy buggers"; called Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) a "Fat Hog";

Also: Mr. Kerry's defenders have received help from unlikely sources, including some who were originally aligned with the Swift boat group but later objected to its accusations against Mr. Kerry. One of them, Steve Hayes, was an early member of the group. A former sailor, he was a longtime friend and employee of William Franke, one of the group's founders, and he supported the push to have Mr. Kerry release his military files. But Mr. Hayes came to believe that the group was twisting Mr. Kerry's record.
"The mantra was just 'We want to set the record straight,' " Mr. Hayes said this month. "It became clear to me that it was morphing from an organization to set the record straight into a highly political vendetta. They knew it was not the truth."
Mr. Hayes broke with the group, ending a 35-year friendship with Mr. Franke, and voted for Mr. Kerry. He has provided a long interview to Mr. Kerry's supporters, backing their version of the incident for which Mr. Kerry received the Bronze Star.

AND On Aug. 22 an officer who was present supported Kerry's version, breaking a 35-year silence. William B. Rood commanded another Swift Boat during the same operation and was awarded the Bronze Star himself for his role in attacking the Viet Cong ambushers. He said Kerry and he went ashore at the same time after being attacked by several Viet Cong onshore.
Rood said he was the only other officer present. Rood is now an editor on the metropolitan desk of the Chicago Tribune, which published his first-person account of the incident in its Sunday edition. Rood said he had refused all interviews about Kerry's war record, even from reporters for his own paper, until motivated to speak up because Kerry's critics are telling "stories I know to be untrue" and "their version of events has splashed doubt on all of us."
Rood described two Viet Cong ambushes, both of them routed using a tactic devised by Kerry who was in tactical command of a three-boat operation. At the second ambush only the Rood and Kerry boats were attacked.
