Ray posts by proxy: It's nice to hear from you. Enjoy a lamb kebab in Tehran on my behalf. :)

Are you working for Siemens this time or someone else?

As far as George Bush's humiliation in the November 7 elections, it seems that arrogance knows no bounds. The message that I thought that was clear enough was that the American people, by and large, want the U.S. to clear out of Iraq. But Bush seems to have an entirely different interpretation. Since "staying the course" is now non-operative, Bush has opted for Plan B, i.e. escalation.

We've seen this drill before. In 1968 Richard Nixon won the Presidency by promising to bring peace. What he brought was seven more years of profits to the war contractors and another million and a half deaths to the chumps, both American and especially the Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians. Bush is being advised by Henry Kissinger, the architect of the completely immoral, illegal campaign that Nixon imposed on SE Asia. He's got the same attitude, i.e. genocide is swell, as long as Halliburton's treasury swells.

What astonishes me is that there are still Americans who are damned fool enough to think that we live in a democracy.

I'll be convinced of this once Bush and Cheney are up for charges as war criminals and not before.

Best of luck in Tehran, Ray
