The draft eventually stopped the Vietnam war. People were able to get Congress to stop funding the war.

I don't expect more than 20% of the Democrats to support the draft bill. Most Democrats are Republican Lite. As for the Regressives, 99% of them will oppose the draft since a draft would mean that they may have to fight the wars that they started. The sad thing is that without a draft, our troops will get ground to dust. Even with a draft, the chances of avoiding a Vietnam-type ignominy are quite small. But a draft will greatly increase the chances of our getting the F*** out of Iraq, since the "patriotic" SUV-driving flag-wavers will realize that their own butts will be put on the line.
